I'm pretty much the most attractive, charming and sarcastic guy you'll ever meet. Not to mention, awesome. Caroline sighed as she kicked her feet up on the old worn couch in her friend Mason’s living room. Her and Mason went way back to when she was a freshman in high school and he was a big bad senior,. He had liked that she wasn’t like other girls and she had liked how attractive he was and…

Liam got out of his car, slamming the door shut behind him and glancing over at the passengers side to see his brother, James, doing the same. He looked up at the big abandoned, or what looked like abandoned, house that he had gotten a tip about. Some old buddies of his from a few years back said they thought Caroline might be staying with an old friend who graduated a couple years before by the name of Sonny or something like that. This was basically his last lead on where Caroline could be. If this turned up to be a dead end then Liam wasn’t sure where he would go next. He told James he wouldnt stop looking for Caroline and he wasn’t. All he knew was he wasn’t stopping until he found Caroline and dragged her ass back home. He wasn’t sure how he was going to do it but he was. He was the reason she left and he couldn’t stand the idea that Caroline was out there somewhere hating him. He cared about her and he just wanted to find her so he could apologize and so she could understand how wrong he knew he was. Because somewhere along the way he had started to care about her, to want to be around her and he was not giving that up anytime soon. He exchanged a look with James before marching over to the front door and slamming his fists into the wood. “Hello?! Anybody home?” Liam shouted, his fist continuously meeting the door his patience beginning to wear thin.

Caroline opens her mouth to answer Mason but she’s saved by a pounding on the front door that stirs both her and Mason from their heart to heart. She lets out a small sigh of relief before wondering who Mason could be expecting. But when he hears something, Mason furrows his brows at the voice coming from behind the door because he doesn’t recognize it and Caroline’s jaw drops when she hears an all too familiar voice drifting from the other side. How did Liam find her? She had never told him a single thing about Mason… How had he known where to look? She was in freaking Virginia for Christ’s sake. She met eyes with Mason, shock swirling in her brown eyes and Mason pressed his lips into a suspicious thin line realizing in that moment exactly why Caroline had left town. Liam. But why? He got up from his seat and stared down at her, arms crossed across his chest. “I’m not here, Mason. Okay?” she says pleadingly and he narrows his eyes at her. “Tell me what happened.” he counters and she shakes her head. “Nothing.” she tells him defiantly and he shakes his head. “Fine.” Mason shrugs heading for the door. Caroline’s eyes widen as he disappears down the hall and she gets up and sprints to stop him. His hand reaches the handle and Caroline comes running around the corner stopping when she sees Mason reaching for the door. “Mason. No.” she whispers, her eyes filled with desperation but its too late and the door’s already swinging open before she even has a chance to get out of Liam and James’s line of sight. “Hi boys, can I help you?” Mason wonders, his voice kind and polite and the only thought that comes to Caroline’s mind… shit.

“Hi there my name is James O’Conner and this is my brother…” James trails off turning to Liam to introduce him only to see his brother zoned out and squinting into the man’s house. “Caroline?” Liam suddenly calls out, his eyes wide as he starts into the guy’s house and James furrows his brows squinting into the darkness to see the swish of hair turning the corner. Caroline. “Woah there, buddy.” the man says standing in Liam’s way, blocking him from getting inside. “Liam, I’m guessing?” the man wonders whimsically and James raises a brow in surprise at the man‘s knowledge of his brother. “Yes and you are?” James questions curiously. “I’m Mason.” he replies with a nod as Liam takes a step forward and gets in his face. “Look, I don’t care who the hell you are but I need to see Caroline and if you don’t let me? Well then you and I are going to have an issue.” Liam promises menacingly but his menace doesn’t scare Mason. On the contrary it seems to amuse him. “God, she was right about you.” Mason says, shaking his head and chuckling. “So she’s here?” James asks and Mason turns to him and James can see that look in his eyes. The one that says “Yes she’s here but if I told you she’d kill me.”

“I’m not at liberty to say.” Mason responds diplomatically and Liam rolls his eyes dramatically. James can tell his brother’s patience is wearing thin and that’s never good. “Oh save it Mason. I just saw her back there.” Liam says before tilting his head. “And I’m not leaving until Caroline get’s her ass out here or we get our asses in there.” he pauses before shrugging easily and leaning against the post holding up the front porch. “Your choice.”

“As much as I’m not with the whole threatening thing my brother seems to like to use. He’ll stay here night and day until Caroline comes out.” James explains and Mason sighs before shaking his head. “I’m gonna regret this.” James hears Mason mutter before he moves out of the way and gestures for the both of them to come in. And Liam is a blur in front of James’s eyes as he scours the place for Caroline the second his foot crosses the threshold.

Liam narrowed his eyes as he scoured every inch of Mason’s place before his eyes fell on the stairwell leading upstairs. He could feel James and Mason watching him and folllowing behind him as he searched the place top to bottom. He knew Caroline was there. He had saw her and there was no way in hell he was going to let her get away. Not when he had just found her again. He owed it to her and to Isabelle and Barbra to bring her back. He took off up the stairs before James or Mason could protest and checked every room he passed until his eyes fell on the last one. He touched the handle and felt the lock firmly in place before he took a deep breath and kicked the door in, his eyes meeting Caroline’s for the first time since she stormed out of the manor over a week ago. Finally.

It’s Caroline, James. She’s like an entire goddamn army all on her own. Warrior freaking princess.

Point taken. So, you know her best. Whats the best way to go about this?

There is no right way to go about this. It’s Caroline. Frankly, we’re just gonna have to wing it.

This is the last place we’re checking, Liam. We can’t go on a cross country search for her. We both have lives to get back to. We’ve been on the road for almost a week and there’s still been no sign of her. Why the hell are we even here? Whats in Virginia? Why would…

I just think… she obviously doesn’t want to be found, Liam or else she would have came back already. Maybe its time to leave well enough alone?

Look if you want to go back… I’m not stopping you, James. You can take the car or a cab, I’ll give you the cash. You can go back to Isabelle and New York but I’m not leaving until I find her.

No, James. You have a life to get back to. I don’t have anything left. I’m not giving up until I find her even if that means dropping everything to keep looking for her. I’ll do it.

And we’re here because supposedly Caroline’s staying with a friend in Mystic Falls and that’s where we need to go to find her.

You all need to stop looking for a person who doesn’t want to be found.

Caroline, please tell us where you are. We just want to talk to you.

No. Stop looking for me! All of you.,

because the deeper you look the farther away I’ll go. Just stop.

I’ll take that as a challenge.

Seriously, Liam. How are we supposed to find her when we have absolutely no clue as to where she is? I’m starting to think we jumped into this a little too prematurely.

Oh calm down, brother. I asked around the races. I talked to a few of the people we race with and they gave me a few possible places she might be.. so we’ll start there.
